In August of 1996 one over-the-top teenager would defy the very idea of a cable television talk show. The Patrick Phillips Show! was originally a comedy sketch written by two college kids to receive their "Broadcast Camera Certification". Patrick was cast to play am eccentric talk show host (Jerry Davis) but when the actor who would be playing the guest was a no-show, Phillips, then 17 years old, promised the crew to simply point the camera at him, and the rest is history.
In 1998 Phillips became a news sensation with articles deeming him "Youngest Talk Show Host", and others claiming the show was "Cheap Talk". After sending out a fake press release to the flash news service, Phillips found himself in a whirwind of radio interviews from all over the world, even gaining the interest of "The Rosie O'Donnell Show", "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" and "The Late Show with David Letterman".
The original television program came to an end in May of 2001, (due to a AT&T contract takeover of DCI Cable) but continues to air on many stations throughout the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex. in 2007, Patrick revived the program and began taping audio versions with notable celebrity guests, and a focus on the paranormal, and not-so-normal news. "I'm not a shock jock" says Phillips, "I prefer the methods of hosts of the past... Let your guests talk, listen to them, and learn about the things that make them unique".
